Why We Check Fit Before Reordering

OrthoK lenses are a medical device custom-designed for your individual cornea, not a commodity product to reorder blindly. Corneas and prescriptions can genuinely change over time, especially in children whose eyes are still growing, which is why we check the current fit and prescription before supplying a replacement, rather than reordering automatically to an old design.

This isn't about making the process slower for the sake of it. A lens that no longer matches your cornea well can mean blurrier vision, less comfortable wear, and in rarer cases, a higher risk of complications, exactly what proper OrthoK care is designed to avoid.

What's Involved

1

Fit & Prescription Check

A brief review, including corneal topography if it's been a while, to confirm your existing lens design is still the right one, or whether an update is needed.

2

Order Placed With The Right Lab

We order replacement lenses from the laboratory and lens design that best suits your current prescription and corneal shape.

3

Collection & Verification

New lenses are checked on the eye before you leave, confirming fit and vision meet the standard your original fitting achieved.

Care Products & Ongoing Supplies

Alongside replacement lenses, we stock the cleaning, rinsing and conditioning solutions suited to your specific lens material, along with cases and accessories. Using the correct products, rather than substituting a generic contact lens solution, matters for both lens longevity and eye health.

We're also happy to advise on replacement schedules, generally every one to two years depending on lens material and wear, so you're never caught out with lenses that have quietly become due for renewal.

Common Questions

Buying OrthoK Lenses: FAQs

I'm already an OrthoK wearer elsewhere. Can I order replacement lenses through you?
In many cases, yes, particularly if we can access your existing lens parameters or if a fresh corneal topography and fit check confirms the current design is still appropriate. We'll always check the fit before supplying a replacement, rather than simply reordering to an old prescription.
Why shouldn't I just buy OrthoK lenses online without a fit check?
OrthoK lenses are a medical device fitted to your individual cornea, not a generic product. Corneas and prescriptions can change over time, especially in children, so a lens ordered without an up-to-date fit check risks being poorly fitted, less effective, or in rarer cases, contributing to complications. A brief review protects both your vision and your eye health.
How often do OrthoK lenses need replacing?
Typically every one to two years, depending on lens material, how well they're cared for, and how a prescription changes over time, particularly relevant for children whose eyes are still growing.
What care products do I need alongside my lenses?
A cleaning solution, a rinsing/soaking or conditioning solution, and a well-maintained lens case are the essentials. We can advise on and supply the right products for your specific lens material.
Do I need an appointment to order replacement lenses?
Generally yes, at least a brief fit check, especially if some time has passed since your last review. This ensures the replacement lenses will perform as well as your current ones, or better if anything has changed.
What if my child has grown and their old OrthoK lenses no longer fit well?
This is common and expected as children's eyes continue developing. We monitor for this at routine reviews and will recommend a lens redesign or remake whenever the current lenses are no longer giving the best result.
Should I keep a spare pair of OrthoK lenses on hand?
It's a sensible option, particularly for children or anyone who relies on OrthoK daily, so a lost or damaged lens doesn't leave you without clear vision while a replacement is made. We can discuss whether a spare pair suits your situation.
What should I do if I lose or damage a lens?
Contact us as soon as possible. We can usually arrange a replacement fairly quickly since your lens design is already on file, and we'll advise on interim options for clear vision while the new lens is being made.
Can I order just care solutions without new lenses?
Yes. We stock cleaning, rinsing and conditioning solutions separately, and you're welcome to restock these at any time without needing a full lens review.
Do you post replacement lenses if I can't come in person?
In many cases, yes, once your fit and prescription have been recently confirmed. We'll let you know if a fresh in-person check is needed first, which is sometimes the case if it's been a while since your last review.
